Many software companies still subject their software to all manner of
horrendous testing. The programs are confined to small boxes and forced to
exercise every feature in every possible way. The exercise is so brutal
that programs have been known to crash and die during the testing.

Fortunately, some enlightened companies such as Microsoft have abjured this
horrible practice.
