It's strange how different meds affect people differently. I've taken
six different antidepressants, and all of them gave me insomnia except
for Wellbutrin SR. I was taking 2 x 150 mg/day, one in the morning,
and one before I went to bed, and I found that it worked better than
Ambien as a sleep aid. OTOH, a fellow at work took Zyban (exactly the
same thing) when he was quitting smoking, and he had horrible
insomnia, getting about four hours a night of sleep. He wound up
getting a prescription of Ambien to go with it.

Frankly, if you haven't gotten past the insomnia by now, I would
recommend switching to something else. It is just one of those things
where it may not mix well with your body chemistry. One of the big
pluses for it is its general lack of side effects such as are
associated with SSRIs, but if it's giving you insomnia, it is losing
much of its value. I don't know if you've tried a sedating
antidepressant, but there are plenty of them to choose from.

After two months on 300mg/day Wellbutrin SR, it wore off about 50%.
It was still a problem, but not severe.

My Dr prescribed Klonapin, 0.5mg before bedtime. This worked fine. For
a week I took it every night, afterward as needed (averaged about every other night).

My Dr said I could take the 150mg Wellbutrin SR pills about 6 hr apart, but
no closer. I took the 1st one as early as possible, which allowed taking the
2nd earlier (6 hr later), so the stimulant effect wore off a little before bedtime.
