I picked up a UPS for $60 or so at the local computer swap meet a while
back, plugged everything into it, and forgot about it. Yesterday, the
power went out while I was working on my computer, and I just thought my
lightbulb had burnt out.

I was in shock for about 5 minutes when I figured out what had actually
happened. It's so *nice* when a UPS actually does what it's supposed to.
