I was one of the (shockingly) few folks who attended Julia Sawalha's "video" signing at HMV here in Manhattan--was anyone else on the list there? Even though I could go on and on about it as I'm still reeling, all I will say is that she was incredibly sweet and gracious. I think she was right chuffed that there was actually a crowd there to meet her! I told her I loved her work in Ab faB of course and in "Second Thoughts"; I think that threw a little as she probably didn't expect an American to know about that show and flashed a big smile in response. Whew--someone could've run me over with a truck after that! I was also surprised that she's as tiny as she is--what, probably 5'1" or 2" tops and very small-framed. Like you could just pick her up and carry her off with one hand (which I certainly wouldn't have minded doing). Whatever might be the reason for her looking a little "heavier" during the last Ab faB series was certainly not in evidence on Thursday. And to cap it all off, I now have a coveted photo (soon to be blown-up to ridiculous proportions) of me and Julia, arm around me no less, smiling at the camera. Don't know why her smile was so big (a life in front of cameras, I'm sure) but I sure know why mine was! What a babe--inside and out! Looking forward immensely to "Pride and Prejudice" on A&E in January.... --Baby Dawn (Connie) PS -- Don't know if it was just me, but the transcript of Julia's CompuServe interview posted to the list came through totally garbled. Would some kind soul e-mail me a legible copy? Thanks!
