Being a resident of gool ol' San Jose, I have to say that the San JOse
Flea markets are the worst! But hey...you gotta luv them because it
tottally incorporates all of SJ's cultures in one scummy lot.

Don't forget to visit the Capital Flea Market in San Jose, held every
thur-Sun at the Capital Drive-In, off of Monterey. Cost a buck to get
in but you could always climb the fence, but watch out for broken
glass. Alot of good garge sale items since they offer lots to locals.
You can even pick up that missed issue of Hustler from days of lore or a
pet dog, at least I hope they're selling them as pets.

Another thing about the Beryessa flea market in that it's $3 for parking
but free admission. HUge, though it'll seem like you're going around in
circles since everyone seems to be selling you boot-leg t-shirts and
ROC Taiwan goods. Brought to you by the same folk who gave us that good
times gamblin' hall Bay 101. Thanks for filling the void Mr.Bumb.

A great locals only flea market which only happens on the first saturday
of every month is (oops, just missed it) the De Anza flea market in
Cupertino. Held in the parking lot of De Anza Community College. Very
good for arts and crafts fanatics, since Cupertino is that yuppy kinda
place. It's seems as if the whole town comes out for this once-a-month
event. You won't find that Hustler here.

De Anza's baby sister is the Ohlone college (Fremont, straight down
Mission) flea market. This happens every 2nd saturday of the
month...Hey that's tomorrow. Not as good as De Anza's but if you missed
the first saturday, then you'll be able to get whatever's left over
here.

Ok, here's one that I've never been to but should be good. The Capitola
Flea Market at the Capitola Drive-In. Held every weekend. I think it
still exists since this thing puts that small-ass hippy surf spot on the
map. You can buy a long-board for $50 and go surfing right afterward in
your $10 wetsuit. Make sure to pick up some extra incense and HERB...
know what I mean?.

I've passed by a few...Berkeley, Plesenton...but nothing compares to
South Bay flea markets. They're very well known in Mid-Cali, such as
Fresno and Mendota. They're kinda like San Jose Disneylands.

And don't forget to take your friends to the Salvation Armies and
Goodwills that are plaguing all of the cities along the Bay. 16th and
Valencia in San Francisco has plenty of thrift stores galore. This
district is a one-stop-shop haven for the thrift fanatic and burrito
lover.

I, however, specialize in South Bay thrift. Savers, 2 stores to please
you, in San Jose down the road from Valley Fair on Bascom and SanCarlos
(right when Stevens Creek turns into San Carlos), and Milpitas on the
east side of 680 on Calavaras Blvd, you'll be abel to see it off the
freeway. Plenty of Goodwills and Sal Armies...too many to list, but
there are always better ones for those hard to find items. Goodwills
are great for Vinyl lovers. Oh yeah...St.Vincent DePaul in San Jose on
7th, between Tully and Alma, has a genuine DeLorean (Back to the Future)
for sale for $15k...Now this is a classic that'll take you back to the
past. Be warry, some thrift shops don't open on God's day--Sunday. One
tip..stay away from those who advertise as VINTAGE!
