Message-ID: Organization: The KD3BJ Usenet BBS Distribution: comp Date: Sat, 17 Sep 1994 16:26:43 GMT Lines: 17 A while ago I posted a question about the possibility of using 75 ohm cable for Ethernet. At that time a number of people eloquently explained to me how the higher voltages on the cable would trip the collision detector circuit and prevent any reliable throughput. Well, the other day I was browsing through an old National Semiconductor databook (1992 Local Area Networks) when I happened across application note AN-620 "Interfacing the DP8392 to 93 ohm and 75 ohm cable". There it was, the circuit for a 75 ohm ethernet tranceiver! So, those of you, like me, that have buildings pre-wired with 75 ohm cable from unused CATV, take heart! -- 73 de KD3BJ (Chris Nadovich, chris@kd3bj.ampr.org)
