I'm running a 2.6 jumpstart server, and after reading all the man pages, Sun documentation, and even a 3rd party Jumpstart guide, I still couldn't get sysidcfg to work properly. Only after banging my head against the wall a few times did I notice that this is a known problem and I had to install a patch on the boot image on the boot/install server. Without this patch, there were about a half dozen parameters that had to be manually entered each time on the client, even though everything was properly set up to do it automatically.
