Correct me if I'm wrong... but are you asking for a way to run dtwm
without the CDE baggage??? Well, you can! If you have CDE installed,
simply use the openwindows session from the login manager. Change your
window manager (in .openwin-init or .xinitrc) to /usr/dt/bin/dtwm. I've
done this and I know it works (although colors were weird).

Some people like to use CDE but dislike dtwm because of that front panel
that takes up so much screen space. In that case, use mwm... Simply
install an mwm binary in your favorite place and change the
/usr/dt/app-defaults/C/Dtsession file to contain the line:
DTsession*wmStartupCommand: <path_to_mwm_install_dir>/mwm

Login through the CDE login manager and you're set!
