The SS2 uses a SPARC-V7-architecture CPU.

The SPARC-V8 CPUs, from oldest to newest, are:

	SuperSPARC, used in SS10, SS20, SS1000, SC2000 and CS6400
microSPARC, used in LX, ZX, Classic, SPARCstorage Array-X00
	HyperSPARC (Colorado-1 and -2), usable in SS10, SS20
	microSPARC-II, used in SS4, SS5, and RSM-2000 Array
	HyperSPARC (Colorado-3), usable in SS10, SS20
turboSPARC, used in SS5 model 170
	SuperSPARC-II, used in SS10, SS20, SS1000, SC2000 and CS6400
	HyperSPARC (Colorado-4), usable in SS10, SS20
	microSPARC-IIep, for OEM embedded-systems
