Two possibilities:

1) A disk did indeed fill up while news.daily was running, but by the
   time news.daily finished the files were removed, clearing up the space.
2) Your filesystem is tuned incorrectly and has run out of free blocks.
   (in other words, there's nothing but frags left)  This hasn't happened
   to me, but others have reported this.  The only real option is to
   re-newfs with smaller block and frag sizes.  (I use 2048/512)
