   Actually he is quite correct about that flip phone mod. It will allow
you to listen to cell calls. Unfortunately  it will not scan channels,
you can only load one channel in at a time which can be tedious.

 Also on Motorola bag phones, if it has a 15 pin connector, you just
short the two pins on the handsfree mic connector together, and if it
has a 25 pin connector, you ground pin 21.
