I fly American, Southwest and Alaska most often, and a few others if
needed.
Of my three most often, (once or twice a week on a plane or two) I
always have mine with me, turned on and close to the window.

In fact I won a $20.00 bet with a guy who was telling me that the
plane(s) (727-300 family) have to get to at least 275/mph in order to
take off, and if it's hot outside, then closer to 300 mph. Or else
they will never get off the ground.

I debated it with him while at the gate, and told him I'd take his
$20.00. I fired up my Garmin eTrex Legend as we taxied out to the
runway, and he and I watched the speed as we moved down the runway to
take of speed. (btw, it's right around 170mph, front wheels come up
around 160mph)

The only stickler I've run into on the planes is they don't like them
to be used during takeoff and landing. The Garmin is small enough and
doesn't require a 1.5 meter dish as an antena I've never ran into a
problem.

With a GPS, I can steal from the rich and give to the poor. (as long
as I have their x/y long/lat)

RobinHood.
