The USGS distributes digitized topographic maps in both raster and vector
form. The vector maps -- "Digital Line Graphs", or DLGs -- are encoded
as SDTS files. The USGS distributes a viewer for these files, dlgv32,
but it runs only on Microsoft Windows.

Dlgvu is a new DLG viewer that runs under Unix. It is written in the Icon
programming language and is available for free downloading. Arbitrary paths,
such as GPS track logs, can be plotted atop the displayed maps. For more
information, including screenshots, see
