The problem with WAAS and EGNOS is that the birds sending out the corrections
sit on rather low elevations (25-35 degrees) for most current 'hot' GPS
countries. That means you have to have a fairly unobstruted south view, and that
for a decent amount of time (at least 10-20min consecutively). Other DGPS
solutions may cost a bit more, but may have better operating conditions.

WAAS and EGNOS have been developed for aviation purposes, where the low
elevation angles are no problem usually.

Right now it seems that with the current WAAS enabled consumer receivers, it's
more a question of luck to get a DGPS fix in real life environments. So, it's
nice to see it happen, but it's nothing you can depend on.
