Possible?  Yes.  Easy?  No. :-)  Actually, unless the NMEA data contains
information about proximity waypoints, you'd have to have an autonomous device
attached to the serial port that also had knowledge of your proximity
waypoints.  What might be easier to do would be to hook up an LED to the
speaker feed (with appropriate circuitry) so that when the alarm goes off the
LED lights up...
